Dr. Fried hit the Democrat talking points in his “It’s not perfect, but it’s a good start” LTE in Tuesday’s DLN. One question. If this healthcare reform plan is so good why after all the arm twisting, taxpayer funded bribes and back room deals, can the Democrats still not get enough support from their own party to pass it? All this talk about the Republicans being the party of “no” is bogus!

The good doctor says 45 million are with out healthcare. Included in these are 10-20 million who snuck over the border. How many billions of dollars in healthcare costs are absorbed by Americans to provide for people who should not even be in this country? He also mentions unnecessary medical testing. How many billions are wasted because of the fear of closing a practice to face a trial lawyer in a courtroom?

These along with other issues have been brought up by Republicans and quashed by Democrats who claim they want bipartisanship. Yes, the democrats started the healthcare debate but they posted a sign at the door saying “Republicans need not apply.”

Demagoguery, the lack of compromise and the simplistic approach of blaming insurance companies is eroding support and arousing suspicion as to the intent of the Obama healthcare plan. There is an air of arrogance about this young President. It emanates from the Progressive notion that “we know best, give us power, and we will make your life easier.” But as Margaret Thatcher said “socialism works fine until you run out of other people’s money.” And guess what folks, they have run out of other peoples money. They are coming for yours and your children’s.

If being the party of “no” means passing on the freedoms I inherited, then I am proud to be a member of the party of “no”.
